The Brief

Our client, a large European bank, retained us to hire 15 Middle Eastern specialist private bankers over a 24-month period across London, Switzerland and Dubai. The minimum hiring criteria for each was defined as:

  • 5 Years +
  • Proven track record of transferring business
  • Minimum book size of $250m, built from scratch
  • Established network of connections across Middle East

Market Mapping

For the first phase, HBI mapped the offshore market across 18 institutions, the relevant candidates that met the pre-defined minimum criteria across both London and Geneva. This initial phase of mapping was completed within 2 weeks from issuing the mandate.

For the second phase, HBI mapped the onshore market across 22 institutions, covering both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This secondary phase of mapping was completed in 2 weeks.

In addition to the market maps, HBI also provided invaluable key competitor information to the client, including structure, recent hires/leavers and compensation trends.

Long list Presentation

HBI presented the long list of relevant bankers and worked with the client to create a Priority A and Priority B target list for each location. Priority A would be the first wave of approaches.

Short list Presentation

HBI commenced the approaches, working with the client to create a tailor-made pitch for top-tier candidates based on our relationship with them, and knowledge of their aspirations and motivations. We provided detailed CV’s and confidential profiles to the client together with feedback on market perception.

Process Management

HBI managed the interview process, providing a full briefing note prior to each meeting outlining the key discussion points for the interview, and transparent, prompt feedback following the interviews.
